Day:14 of my journey Nice, France
Today was one of the longest road trips of my life. We boarded the bus bright and early and we did every
thing we could to keep ourselves occupied. We slept. We talked. We watched movies. We listened to music. In the end it seemed
as if every one fell asleep so I just admired the view of the road. I watched the hills roll by. I watched the creeks and
rivers run. I watched the clouds scurry across the sky. I felt the bus going up the hill with hair pin turns, and thought,
"this lunch better be good!" After a hurried lunch it was time to go. We drove far and I tried to stay asleep, but
my eyes grew increasingly heavier. I dozed off slowly, and when I woke up we hit our pit stop. We all raided the gas station
buying a variety of breads, chips, candy bars, and sodas. After that I was loaded on sugar and I couldn't fall asleep
if I wanted to. As I held my breath tunnel by tunnel we were finally there: the candy factory.
When we got to the candy factory the owner told us all about how they used flowers and fruits to make
their candy. Each piece of candy takes about fourty-five days to carmelize. In the end we all realized how extremely expensive
the candies really were. A box of caramelized oranges was twenty-three euros! I left that day with a greater appretiation
for my all American Hershey's bar.
