Interesting! By definition it means holding the attention or provoking interest. Synonyms include absorbing, arresting, engaging, engrossing, and enthralling. Some might use this to describe ruins so large it would take days to see all of it and the excavation still isn't complete yet or a bus ride with a marvelous view. Perfect! this was the perfect word to describe my interesting day.

We quickly got off the ferry into a bus that would take us to the ancient ruins of Pompeii. When we arrived we first ate breakfast at a nearby restaurant. We were immediately all the stray dogs in town followed us, because some people never learned that if you pet stray animals you either might get worms or a new unwanted shadow. As we entered the restaurant the owner chased the dogs away with her trusty broom and "colorful" language. We then headed into the ruins. Turns out the citizens had many things that we had. Such as, fast food, sewage systems, street signs, and speed bumps. It was amazing to be in the bath houses and shrines. It was also great to see the empty casts of the eruption victims. I learned that the casts were plaster and not any volcanic material. There were shells or imprints left from the eruption when every one was buried. So the archaeologists injected plaster into the shells leaving perfect figures of how they were when they died.

I spent the entire time on the bus sleeping. When I woke up  Johnie and I watched Family Guy Blue Harvest on his ipod to pass the time. Then we finally got to the nicest hotel on the trip: Hotel Selena in Rome. We were so excited because luckily Johnnie and I were assigned each other as roommates. When we got there we hurried up to our room and we were off. What an interesting end to an interesting day.
